DESIGNER. ILLUSTRATOR. PHOTOGRAPHER. PODCAST LOVER. FOODIE. THIRD CULTURE KID. ROAD TRIPPER. HISTORY ENTHUSIAST. WIFEY. STEP-MAMA. INTROVERTED EXTROVERT. CALIFORNIA NATIVE. PROFESSIONAL NAPPER. AND ON & ON...I grew up a military brat (meaning my father was in the air force and moved us around quite a bit). I’ve had opportunities to live in many different countries around the world, though as a child I saw them less as ‘opportunities’ and more as the universe conspiring against my happiness…We had the pleasure of living in the Philippines, England, Germany, and various states within the US, with annual summer trips to Spain to stay with my mother’s family.
Moving around so much definitely opened my eyes and mind to what was out there in the world, and as a result, I became very adaptable. I believe one of my fundamental strengths is being able to get out of my comfort zone and thriving on the experience. I have no problem meeting strangers and I truly believe everyone you meet has something to teach you. I took this philosophy with me when I set out on my own path to work in Europe, and it was only reinforced with every new country and experience I had. I relished working in multiple countries and discovering all the cultural eccentricities each place had to offer; from the Spaniards’ passion for food and storytelling, the Germans’ preference for organization and efficiency, the Dutchs’ love for the bold and unexpected, and the Brits’ appreciation of manners and wit, they will insult you but oh so politely!! I took all of this in and hopefully it’s made me into the designer and person I am today.
Today you’ll find me living in Virginia with my husband and step-kiddos. I’m a Senior Designer/Art Director for Elevance Health (formerly Anthem, Inc.), currently working on achieving my MBA. On the rare occasions I’m not working or studying, you can find me walking in a park, trying some new recipes or sneaking in a cheeky nap :)
